Rabbi Gerald I. Wolpe, Ph.D., is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the National Coordinating Group on Bioethics and Law for the American Bar Association. Rabbi Wolpe is also Director of the Finkelstein Foundation, which is dedicated to exploring issues in Jewish and interfaith bioethics for the Conservative movement. He serves on the Chancellor’s Counsel of the Jewish Theological Seminary, the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly of America, and on a number of other regional and national boards and committees in the Jewish community. A recognized expert on caregiving, Rabbi Wolpe has taught bioethics at The Medical College of Pennsylvania (where he taught the first course on caregiving ever offered at a medical school), Hahnemann Medical School, and the University of Pennsylvania; he has also lectured on the topic nationally. Rabbi Wolpe serves on numerous other advisory boards, such as the National Aphasia Society, Wellspouse, and the United Hospital Fund Families and Health Care Project. He recently retired after more than 30 years as spiritual leader of Har Zion Temple in the Philadelphia suburbs. |
